Fund IRL MN

Turn social media accountability into opportunity

Fund IRL Logo

Fund IRL Minnesota is part of a national coalition working to ensure any payouts from social media lawsuits help fund programs and services that promote youth well-being and healthy development. “In real life” (IRL) opportunities—ones where young people build skills, make friends, and grow—are a powerful antidote to the harms of social media.

Young people who spend the most time on social media experience negative impacts on mental health.  Social media lawsuit payouts should fund young people’s well-being and close opportunity gaps.

Payouts should support:

  • Afterschool & Summer Learning: "In Real Life" alternatives that reduce screen time and increase belonging.

  • Education & tools for parents and young people that build skills around safe use of social media

  • Mental health resources like advanced treatment for youth who need it and peer to peer mental health ambassadors and education
