Support Youth at the Capitol

Support Minnesota Youth at Events on April 9th, 10th, and 11th

Is our “Igniting the Power of Afterschool” summit on Wednesday, April 9th not enough to satisfy your desire to support Minnesota’s young people? Good news! There are two other amazing events for you to attend on April 10th and 11th that also strive to make youth voice heard at the Capitol! We encourage you to attend at least one of the following events to show your support for youth!

Igniting the Power of Afterschool – April 9th. An educational forum for state legislators on the Power of Afterschool to impact school success and college and career readiness. The event is co-sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures and will take place from 8:30am – 12:00pm in hearing room 5 of the State Office Building.  Please click here to register.

Youth Day at the Capitol – April 10th. Each year the Youth Policy Alliance unites youth programs from across the state of Minnesota by inviting them to visit the Minnesota State Capitol.  Youth Day at the Capitol is an effort to educate policy makers about the issues that face Minnesota’s youth every day. Youth development services do not exist or work in an exclusive, solitary environment to meet the needs of young people. We must engage communities and enact policies that promote a comprehensive approach to youth policy. Check in is between 8:30am and 10:00am in the Rotunda and the Rally starts at 10:30am. Please click here to register.

Minnesota Youth Council Committee Meeting – April 11th. The Minnesota Youth Council (MYC) is a collaboration of youth and adults working together to empower and mobilize youth across the state to exercise their voices, opinions and actions and take action on youth issues.  The MYC Committee advises legislators on youth related bills, thanks to the 2013 Omnibus E-12 Education Act.  Please join us for our second Minnesota Youth Council Committee meeting from 1:00 to 3:00pm in State Office Building, Room 200. Committee meetings are open to the public and do not require registration.  To learn more, please contact Kori Redepenning.

Please join us for one of these great events supporting our young people in Minnesota. We’ll see you there!
